Timing and syncing music

Working with my sound track trying to get the timing together yes the words are important but if they are not in time and suited to meet the timing of my visual work then it will not have the right look.
the key things that I have been working with are keying in volume, mixing my music with my tracks, transitioning with effects in premiere.
