This exhibition features both customary and comtemporary visual arts through the works of emerging and established New Zealand-based artists of Cook Island Heritage.
Curated by New Zealand born Artist Lelani Kake.
Together the artists represent the fifteen islands and atolls that make up the Cook Islands. Lelani Kake selected the artists in order to mark out and activate, through a range of creative practices, stories, memories and ideas that personify the concept of “Pirianga Toto” – which means to be “connected by blood” to the Cook Islands

I was fortunate enough to be apart of this show 2015 The meaning of this exhibition describes the meaning behind my video clip which in English translates to Blood Ties, My story starts with not knowing my cook island side or never being to the cook islands although always having a feeling and felt a connection towards the cook islands and its people.
I have always wanted to go there and no idea why, since i have been able to paint I have been painting lagoons and beaches flowers and turtles, then to find out my father was a Cook Islander everything kind of made sense and all came together.
