  • ANI O’NEILL

    • Using craft skills that blend her Cook Island and Irish background, Ani O'Neill makes a wide range of objects and installations.

As a site specific, installation and performance based artist, Ani graduated from Auckland’s Elam School of Fine Arts in 1994 and was quickly identified as one of the nation’s bright new art talents. This saw her immediate inclusion into exhibitions such as The Nervous System, Telecom Prospect, Bottled Ocean, and Brisbane’s Asia/Pacific Art Triennial and attributed to her status as a pioneer in Aotearoa’s Contemporary Pacific Arts. Ani has had a prolific exhibiting career, both nationally and internationally, including Singapore, Taiwan.

Ane O'Neill is an artist who is similar to my own her passion for the Cook Islands is really encouraging and is an artist that I feel I can relate too. Although Ane uses Cook Island handcraft skills in her work she to embodies the same principles that I have with identity , post colonialism, environment and love of her culture.
